Mestizo root profile against Ruziziensis

Sown 21 Mar 2025 · Roots evaluated after 5 months and 12 days

A supplied Papalotla soil-trench comparison at a 5 kg/ha seeding rate, measuring the full 0–100 cm profile in four 25 cm horizons.

Cumulative root biomass5,710Ruziziensis 1,963 · +191%

25–50 cm assessment5Ruziziensis 3
50–75 cm assessment7Ruziziensis 1
75–100 cm assessment5Ruziziensis 2
  • Mestizo exceeded the Ruziziensis comparator in the cumulative 0–100 cm measure and in every reported depth horizon.
  • The source labels the four horizon values as root assessments but does not state a clear unit; values are reproduced without adding one.

Mestizo forage mass and nutrients returned in residue

Assessed 26 Jun 2025

A supplied comparison with Ruziziensis combining dry-matter measurement, residue nutrient analysis and OneSoil NDVI imagery.

Dry matter4,405 lb/acRuziziensis 3,047 · +44%
Nitrogen in residue114 lb/acRuziziensis 78
Phosphorus15 lb/acRuziziensis 8
Potassium103 lb/acRuziziensis 86
Calcium21 lb/acRuziziensis 21
Magnesium20 lb/acRuziziensis 12
Sulfur12 lb/acRuziziensis 7
  • The supplied analysis reports more dry matter and higher N, P, K, Mg and S in Mestizo residue; calcium was equal.
  • Residue nutrients describe material available for cycling, not a one-for-one fertilizer credit.
04
Establishment

Build the stand correctly

  1. 01Plant the commercial blend at 8–10 kg/ha, adjusted for coating.
  2. 02Ensure uniform shallow placement so blend components establish together.
  3. 03Protect the stand for approximately 80–90 days.
05
Management

Turn potential into performance

  • Use 25–35 day rest periods and 15–20 cm residual as starting guidance.
  • Monitor whether one component becomes dominant under local grazing pressure.
  • Avoid prolonged waterlogging.
06
Limitations & safety

Know where it does not fit

  • Low waterlogging tolerance.
  • Blend composition and seed technology should remain consistent with the registered product.
  • Upper-end quality values require maturity context.
  • The new root, biomass and residue-nutrient results are single-site observations and should not be treated as guaranteed performance.
